Last of the 23 things!!

Last of the 23 things list cry, but our journeys into the 2.0 world and beyond will continue.  The web is ever changing for better or worse.  It's been a wonderful experience to learn new things and see what others are up to!  Learning at your own pace and having your colleagues there to help out if need be or visa versa is really nice.  I'd like to thank all my colleagues who helped me along this journey and gave me that little extra push when it was needed.  Some of my favorites sites are Flickr, Zohowriter, LibraryThing, Bloglines just to name a few.  I would definitely be interesting in participating in another discovery program such as 3.0 or similar.   Lets see how many of us will continue with are blogs.  Its been fun, SEE YA!! T*K*cool

eAudioBooks

I've never really been a user of audio books, but it was interesting to see whats out there in the 2.0 world. I checked out the suggested eAudioBooks sites for free downloads and settled on Librivox. Found the Art of War by Sun Tzu and starting listening but found myself distracted my the readers voice/accent. Selections of free downloads are limited, but with paid subscriptions your selections of authors/titles widen considerably.

Podcasts

Played around with Podcast Alley and Yahoo podcast, but had better results with Podcast Alley. Found several podcast dealing with gun rights and the second amendment and add them to my bloglines. Also found a podcast dealing with 2.o technology and added it to my blog along with just one of the many gun rights podcasts that I discovered, there located on the right side bar.

Youtube

Youtube is interesting. Tons of videos on practically anything your interested in, may have to filter some videos to get to more informational ones. I found several videos that where interesting and informative like a two part video titled LOCKSS- Lots of copies keep stuff safe, its about how Libraries can help in collecting and preserving web published content.

I also found some cool videos with information on bookmobiles around the world. The first one is titled Camel Mobile Library in Kenya, looks hot and dusty but the mission to end literacy has to endure much.

And this clip titled Library on Wheels- from wagon to buses gives a little history on Bookmobiles in the U.S.

Then I came across this video, White Tigers- facts v.s. fiction, with very interesting information on white tigers that I didn't know!!

Web 2.0 Tools

Let me tell you again how easy it is to use Zohowriter and the ease it is to publish your documents to your blog or other sites, Really Cool!! Web 2.0 tools\site are so numerous, very overwhelming; It's like the list of 2.o stuff never ends. Found some cool sites and some I didn't care for. I like Pandora.com its an online radio station where you can listen to your favorite artists for FREE. Once who've add an artist pandora plays music by this artist and then plays suggestions based on your picks. Only downside I can see is that you can't repeat/rewind a song and your limited to the number of skip you make every hour, but I do like the quick mix option its similar to shuffling your music. I found tons of informations and tips for going GREEN and living healthy on Care2.com and Begreennow.com. Bibliol.com is a site that could be of some use in a library setting. With this tool you can search for out of print materials and have the option of purchasing the item from independent booksellers. Another site with some potential in a library setting would be wufoo.com, where we can create any form for whatever survey we could think of to ask our customers. Enough of the 2.o world for tonight catch you later!
