Last of the 23 things!!

Last of the 23 things list cry, but our journeys into the 2.0 world and beyond will continue.  The web is ever changing for better or worse.  It's been a wonderful experience to learn new things and see what others are up to!  Learning at your own pace and having your colleagues there to help out if need be or visa versa is really nice.  I'd like to thank all my colleagues who helped me along this journey and gave me that little extra push when it was needed.  Some of my favorites sites are Flickr, Zohowriter, LibraryThing, Bloglines just to name a few.  I would definitely be interesting in participating in another discovery program such as 3.0 or similar.   Lets see how many of us will continue with are blogs.  Its been fun, SEE YA!! T*K*cool

eAudioBooks

I've never really been a user of audio books, but it was interesting to see whats out there in the 2.0 world. I checked out the suggested eAudioBooks sites for free downloads and settled on Librivox. Found the Art of War by Sun Tzu and starting listening but found myself distracted my the readers voice/accent. Selections of free downloads are limited, but with paid subscriptions your selections of authors/titles widen considerably.

Podcasts

Played around with Podcast Alley and Yahoo podcast, but had better results with Podcast Alley. Found several podcast dealing with gun rights and the second amendment and add them to my bloglines. Also found a podcast dealing with 2.o technology and added it to my blog along with just one of the many gun rights podcasts that I discovered, there located on the right side bar.

Youtube

Youtube is interesting. Tons of videos on practically anything your interested in, may have to filter some videos to get to more informational ones. I found several videos that where interesting and informative like a two part video titled LOCKSS- Lots of copies keep stuff safe, its about how Libraries can help in collecting and preserving web published content.

I also found some cool videos with information on bookmobiles around the world. The first one is titled Camel Mobile Library in Kenya, looks hot and dusty but the mission to end literacy has to endure much.

And this clip titled Library on Wheels- from wagon to buses gives a little history on Bookmobiles in the U.S.

Then I came across this video, White Tigers- facts v.s. fiction, with very interesting information on white tigers that I didn't know!!

Web 2.0 Tools

Let me tell you again how easy it is to use Zohowriter and the ease it is to publish your documents to your blog or other sites, Really Cool!! Web 2.0 tools\site are so numerous, very overwhelming; It's like the list of 2.o stuff never ends. Found some cool sites and some I didn't care for. I like Pandora.com its an online radio station where you can listen to your favorite artists for FREE. Once who've add an artist pandora plays music by this artist and then plays suggestions based on your picks. Only downside I can see is that you can't repeat/rewind a song and your limited to the number of skip you make every hour, but I do like the quick mix option its similar to shuffling your music. I found tons of informations and tips for going GREEN and living healthy on Care2.com and Begreennow.com. Bibliol.com is a site that could be of some use in a library setting. With this tool you can search for out of print materials and have the option of purchasing the item from independent booksellers. Another site with some potential in a library setting would be wufoo.com, where we can create any form for whatever survey we could think of to ask our customers. Enough of the 2.o world for tonight catch you later!

Sandbox

WOW!!! almost an entire month without checking\posting to my blog. Life always gets busy with all its twists and turns. Week 7 for me and time is ticking away with only several more days to May 7th final celebrations. Playing in the Sandbox has made me frustated. I've tried linking my blog to plcmc's favorites blogs using the [ URL Title of blog] directions but didn't work out for me. I was able to link it by copying and pasting my url to the edit page.

Library 2.0

Library 2.o ever changing; moving right along with all the new technologies. Really great making information more easily accessible to patrons. But a little scary imaging all those shrinking bookshelves, tough letting go of those tendencies to pick up a book to read and flipping a page.

Technorati

Exploring Technorati, lots to take in! So much you can do! A great tool for finding blogs and other information.

Del.icio.us

Hey! Well I've opened a Del.icio.us account. I've used Yahoo's toolbars Bookmarks that you can use anywhere and I like it, but what I really like about Del.icio.us is the ease of adding not only websites but articles as well. This is a very useful tool for organizing or compiling your information for researches and various interests.

Add music to your blog!

Hi Guys!! It's been a while since my last post; been somewhat busy. Found something really cool, how to add music that you like on to your blog. Check out this third-party music service site http://www.imeem.com/home/, as we all know by now with web 2.o apps, we have to register and open an account but its fast, simple and FREE. Search for songs and create a playlist then add your song to the list. Once your playlist is complete you'll be given a Html code to embed to your blog. Copy and paste this onto your add a page element HTML/JavaScript of your blog. I think you guys are going to enjoy this, I am!!

Play Week

Hi! Play week has been very interesting and fun. Played with many online image generators where I was able to add some cool and funny things to my blog. I used this link, http://cooltext.com/, to create my T*K*'s WORLD sign up above. And I was able to add my flag to my blog using, http://www.bannergenerator.org/flags.asp. For those who like to add captions with bubbles onto pictures this link is cool, http://www.addcaptions.com/.
LibraryThing is very interesting and fairly easy to use. Very easy to add titles that you've read and has many options for setting up how to view your library. I found the ability to view other members’ catalogs and their reviews of titles really helpful. You can check out my LibraryThing catalog by clicking the link under My Library on my blogs sidebar.
Rollyo was alright, figured out how to create my own searchroll but I think it still needs some work. I also add my Rollyo search bar to my blog ***SEARCH AT OWN YOUR RISK***!!! HA! HA!
I also want to say to my fellow coworkers that you guys have some cool and interesting blogs!!

RSS WOOOW!!

If you're having any fun with the stuff we've learned so far in web 2.0, you're going to have a blast with Bloglines. This is a website where you can receive RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds. Having all this information in one place without having to jump from site to site is nice and time efficient. And the amounts of RSS feeds out there are overwhelming. I thought playing with Flickr was addictive, now I can't stop adding feeds to my Bloglines, I'm at 25 feeds already. I located feeds using Bloglines and Technorati's Search tools, both are fairly easy to use. I found several feeds with library news and technology, like Library Journal Newsfeed and LibrariesandLibrarians rock. Ilibrarian was a feed where I found some very interesting articles. Check them out for your selves!! I added Ilibrarian to my blog.

7 and 1/2 lifelong learning habits test #1

Easiest and hardest of the 7 1/2 lifelong learning habits for me and why?

Hi, am T*K* and I would have to say that for me the easiest of the 7 1/2 lifelong learning habits would be habit #1 goals. These goals are things I really want to achieve, thus making me more focused on what I have to do to achieve it. My hardest would be habit #5, creating my own learning box because there are so many new and advancing gadgets and technologies and not always having enough resources to obtain or use them all.
